our team
The people behind Project Female
Project Female is powered by a team of artists, youth workers, leaders and trustees who share a commitment to creating inclusive, empowering opportunities for young females through dance and creative practice.
Our work is shaped by professional expertise, lived experience and a belief that young people should have a voice in the spaces, programmes and organisations that affect them.
Our Board of Trustees
Our Board of seven trustees provides strategic oversight, guiding Project Female’s long-term direction, financial management, safeguarding and organisational accountability.
Bringing together expertise across safeguarding, movement psychotherapy, higher education, inclusive arts production and creative practice, our trustees help ensure that Project Female remains responsive to the communities we serve.
Lived experience is central to our leadership.
Our current board reflects this commitment, with 43% of trustees coming from low-income backgrounds, 43% identifying as Black or from the global majority, 43% being disabled, and 57% having personal experience of mental ill health.

Our youth Advisory Board
We believe young people should help shape the organisations that work with them.
Our Youth Advisory Board gives young people a voice in shaping Project Female’s future.
Members share their experiences, challenge our thinking and help us review our plans, policies and decisions to ensure young people’s perspectives remain at the heart of our work. Their insight helps us stay relevant, inclusive and accountable to the young people we support.
Growing Our Team
We’re proud to support young people to grow with Project Female, developing their skills, confidence and leadership.
We currently have two apprentices working with us, and four of our 12 sessional tutors are former company dancers who progressed through our Dance Ambassadors pathway into paid teaching roles.
Through our LEAD programme, young females can access training, mentoring and opportunities to shape their own futures while helping inspire the next generation.
